3 Shop Parklett | Alameda, CA

Designed for a business owner in downtown Alameda, this parklet proposal provides a safe and versatile space for visitors to all three contiguous businesses. A bar height table and bench provides a social space for our clients tea shop, a lounge area under an existing street tree offers a shaded place to read in front of the book store, and three tables provide additional outdoor seating for the cafe. The heavy perimeter planter and integrated screen is built up at one end to provide protection from oncoming traffic and minimize glare, then steps down gradually so that bikers have enhanced visibility and clearance in order to safely enter and exit the bike parking end of the platform.
